This visit is located in East York, Ontario.
The technicians, before the work is done, must first inspect and confer with the customer or customers on the issue and then must inspect for the source of the activity. The area were the customer lived which is on the boarder of Riverdale and Leslieville is an area with a high level of rat activity due to the presence of the Don valley rover, highways and high density of buildings. This leads to rats in this area constantly trying to penetrate homes and commercial properties in the area. To resolve this a treatment must be done to reduce the exterior population of rats as well as preventative exclusion to stop rats from getting into homes.
Riverdale, Ontario: East York
The southeastern area of Toronto known as the east end includes the areas of Riverdale around the area of the Lower Don Valley. This area includes older Victorian homes and was one of the original areas of Toronto first built on and is as old as old Toronto itself. There are many shops, bars and restaurants in this area and is famed for its culture and beauty.
Exterior Inspection
When the technician arrived on site they performed an exterior inspection of the property and found activity high level of activity on the property. Burrowing by rodents as well as the presence of feces.
Interior Inspection
While inspecting the interior there was a great deal of activity found on the interior including feces both old and new. The issue has been long standing for years and the customer were fed up with the issue and wanted it solved permanently.

Initial Measures
The first step was to treat the rodents on the exterior of the property to reduce the population of rats. This is done by placing large and weighted tamperproof bait stations on the property in areas of high activity. These stations contain a potent form of commercial grade rodenticide. The rats will feed on it repeatedly and feel sick. They will return to their burrows and die underground. The technical will also take measures to prevent rats from dying inside the walls of the house. Due to the high water content and diet of rats when a rat dies in an inaccessible area of the house it can create an intense and long lasting smell that can be difficult to live in the house with that smell present. To prevent this from happening the technical will places down large commercial grade baited snap traps in areas of high activity. The rats will be drawn to them and will be caught in the traps instead of dying in the walls of the house.
Proposed exclusion
The technician sealed off two entry ways that rats where getting into, one entry way was under the deck over a foundation gap that had formed over time. A second one way door was installed over an old chewed out plumbing vent under a cabinet in the basement. This entry way was hard to discover and the customer themselves never realized it, or the one under the deck was present. This is why it is important to hire a trained rodent expert to inspect for entry ways around your home as they could be anywhere. The technical installed the one way door over the open sewer vent as well as exclusion a large area under the cabinet itself which was dirt and gravel which rats can burrow through.

Conclusion
The technician excluded the entry ways that rats were using to enter the home and once the interior infestation was over, removed them and sealed the relevant areas. The house was now protected and no further rodent incursions occurred. The customers where pleased with the service and did not have any further issues with rodents in their home.
